The Road People
Do you remember the '60s? or the ’70s? Hitchhikers, hippies, lots of people on the road. Arthur's first “road” was painted in l960 in Mexico when he noticed that campesinos casually would bed down on the side of the road for a nap or the night. It seemed a precarious situation, but that’s how it was.
As people of all descriptions thumbed their way across the US, he conceived of winter landscapes, Adam and Eve looking for a ride to Eden…LA?
NY? It didn’t matter. The last of this series is called “The Road People” which included
a dog, backpacks and the distinctive white center line.
